About LOG
A log is a plain text file that an app, a server or a device writes as it runs, usually one event per line with the time first. Web server logs, crash reports, install logs and the logs of games and apps are all LOG files.
Logs grow fast, and a busy server writes millions of lines a day. Many editors slow down or give up on a file of a few hundred megabytes, and a browser tab shows it as one endless page.
Filepeek reads the log in pieces as you scroll, so even a file of several gigabytes opens at once. Its lines are counted in the background, and a search counts every match and marks it on the scrollbar.

Questions
How do I open a LOG file?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek a LOG. It opens at once with line numbers and its long lines wrapped to fit your screen, with nothing to install.
Can it open a log of several gigabytes?
Yes. Filepeek only reads the part of the file on your screen, so even a huge log opens at once. Drag the scrollbar to go anywhere in it.
How do I search a log?
Choose Search, or press Ctrl F, or ⌘ F on a Mac, and type. Every match is counted and marked on the scrollbar, and Enter goes to the next one.
Is my log uploaded?
No. The log opens inside your browser and never leaves your device. Logs often hold private details, such as addresses and names.
