Open DMP files in your browser
The file Windows saves when an app crashes or the computer stops on a blue screen. See what happened right here, with no debugger. Nothing leaves your device.
Or drop it anywhere on this page
What you'll see
Your crash dump opens as what happened: the error, where it struck, the app or the drivers, and the computer it ran on.
- The error and what it means • Blue screens' stop codes
- The module or driver it struck in • Its version
- The computer • Windows' version and the processor
- Its memory never shows • Nothing in it runs
About DMP
Windows writes a crash dump when an app crashes or the system stops on a blue screen: small ones in C:\Windows\Minidump, a full one as C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP, and an app's wherever Windows Error Reporting or the app keeps them. Chrome, Electron apps and many games write the same minidumps through Breakpad and Crashpad, on Macs, Linux and Android too.
A minidump holds what a debugger needs: the error and the address it struck, the threads and their stacks, the modules loaded with their versions, and facts about the computer. A blue screen's dump starts with the stop code and its four parameters, and a small one lists the drivers that were loaded.
Filepeek reads only the parts it shows. It names the error and what it means, the module or driver it struck in with its version, the app, the computer and when it crashed, and lists every module or driver. The memory a dump holds is never shown, and nothing in it runs.

Questions
How do I read a DMP file without WinDbg?
Drop it on this page or press Peek a DMP. What crashed, where and when shows at once, with nothing to install.
What does a stop code like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL mean?
A driver reached for memory it wasn't allowed to at that moment. Filepeek says what each stop code means and names the drivers its parameters and its stack point into, often the one to update.
Where does Windows keep crash dumps?
Blue screens leave small dumps in C:\Windows\Minidump and a full one as C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Apps' crash dumps are often in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps, or wherever the app keeps them.
Is it safe to share a crash dump?
A small dump mostly is, but one with the app's memory, or a full blue screen dump, can hold passwords and other private data. Filepeek says when a dump holds memory, so you know before you send it.
Why won't my .dmp file open?
Oracle's database exports and some other apps use .dmp too. Only crash dumps open here as one: Windows' own and the minidumps Breakpad and Crashpad write.
