About MD
Markdown is text that reads well as it is: # for a heading, * for a list, ** for bold, [text](link) for a link. John Gruber made it with Aaron Swartz in 2004, CommonMark pinned down its rules in 2014, and GitHub added tables, task lists and strikethrough.
It's the format of READMEs, wikis, notes apps like Obsidian, documentation sites and the answers of AI assistants. Opened in a browser, it's plain text, marks and all.
Filepeek draws it the way GitHub does, on pages: headings, tables, task lists, code in its colors, footnotes at the foot of the page, math drawn by KaTeX and alerts in their boxes. Pictures inside the file show, and nothing is loaded from the web. Show as text shows the Markdown itself.

Questions
How do I open an MD file?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek an MD. It opens at once, drawn as GitHub shows it, on pages fitted to your window.
Can I see the Markdown itself?
Yes. Show as text opens it in the text viewer, with line numbers and search, and Show as a document brings back the drawn pages.
Does it draw math?
Yes. Math between dollar signs, and in math blocks, is drawn by KaTeX, as on GitHub. Mermaid diagrams show as their code.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
