About MM
FreeMind, a free mind mapping app in Java, came out in 2000, and Freeplane grew out of it in 2009. Both save maps as .mm files, and many other mind mapping apps import and export them.
An .mm file is XML: nodes inside nodes, each with its text, a note or details, a link, icons and colors.
Filepeek shows the map as an outline, its nodes nested as they branch, each with its note and link. Filter keeps the topics that match, and Save the outline as OPML or Markdown takes it to any outliner or notes app.
