About NRG

Nero Burning ROM saved its disc images as .nrg files, and for years it came with nearly every CD and DVD burner sold for Windows. Many old backups of CDs, DVDs and music are still in it.

An NRG is the disc's sectors one after another, then a table at the end that lists its sessions and tracks: where each starts, its mode and its sector size. A DVD's are plain 2,048 byte sectors, a CD's often raw ones, with music tracks as CD sound.

Filepeek reads that table and the sectors itself. A data track opens as a folder, its files read straight from the image, and audio tracks play as songs in the audio player. Save as ISO turns the data track into an ISO, and each song saves as MP3 or WAV.

Questions

How do I open an NRG without Nero?

Drop it on this page or choose Peek an NRG. A data track opens as a folder, audio tracks as songs, with nothing to install.

Can I turn an NRG into an ISO?

Yes. Choose Export, then Save as ISO, and the data track is saved as a plain ISO, which any computer opens.

Can I play an NRG's music?

Yes. Each audio track plays in the audio player, and Export saves each one as MP3 or WAV, or every track in one ZIP.

Can I verify it?

Yes. Choose Verify for its SHA-256, SHA-1 or MD5, and paste the hash you have to see whether they match.

Is my image uploaded?

No. It opens inside your browser and never leaves your device, however big it is.
