Open SQL files in your browser
A whole database written out as the SQL that builds it again, the way backups and data downloads come. Open a dump right here as a folder of tables, with no server to set up. Nothing leaves your device.
Or drop it anywhere on this page
What you'll see
Your database opens as a folder in the file list, its tables and views with their rows counted, and each table you pick opens in the grid.
- Every table and view in a folder • Rows counted
- Keys lead to the rows they point at
- Search • Every table at once
- Export • Save a table or the whole database
About SQL
SQL is the language of databases, first written down as a standard in 1986. A dump is a database written out in it: a CREATE TABLE statement for each table, then INSERT statements with every row, or COPY blocks in PostgreSQL. mysqldump, mariadb-dump, pg_dump, phpMyAdmin and SQLite write them, and reading one back usually means setting up the same database server.
Each database writes its own SQL. MySQL quotes names in backticks and escapes with backslashes, PostgreSQL quotes them in double quotes and copies rows as lines split by tabs, and SQL Server quotes them in brackets. A big table's rows run to millions in one file. pg_dump's own format, made with -Fc for pg_restore, isn't SQL at all: it's binary, its rows usually compressed.
Filepeek reads a dump in slices and runs none of it: it finds the tables in its CREATE TABLE statements, their keys in those and in ALTER TABLE, and their rows in INSERT and COPY, so a dump of several gigabytes opens at once as a folder of tables, each with its rows counted. pg_dump's own format opens the same way. A key leads to the row it points at, and Search looks in every table. A .sql file of queries or migrations opens as text.

Questions
How do I open a SQL dump without MySQL?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek an SQL. Its tables show as a folder in the file list, each with its rows counted, and the one you pick opens as a grid. There is no database to set up.
Which dumps does it open?
Dumps from mysqldump, mariadb-dump, pg_dump, phpMyAdmin, Adminer and SQLite's .dump, scripts of tables from SQL Server and Oracle, and pg_dump's own format, made with -Fc. Rows can be in INSERT statements of any size or in PostgreSQL's COPY blocks.
Does it run the SQL?
No. Filepeek only reads the statements that make tables and fill them, and nothing in the file runs. A .sql file of queries or migrations opens as text.
Can I save the tables as CSV or Excel?
Export saves a table as CSV, Excel, JSON, Parquet or SQL, with every row or only the rows you sorted and filtered. The same menu saves every table at once: as a ZIP of CSVs, one Excel workbook with a sheet for each table, a SQLite database or a SQL dump.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The dump opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
