About ASS
SubStation Alpha, a subtitle editor from the late 1990s, saved .ssa files, and its Advanced version, .ass, became the format of fansubs and karaoke, now made in Aegisub. Matroska files often carry ASS tracks inside.
An ASS file has sections of text: styles with their fonts, colors and places, then events, each line with its start, end, style, speaker and text, with override tags for effects.
Dropped with a video, an ASS named like it shows on the picture as plain lines, with the Subtitles button to switch or hide them. Alone, it opens as a table of every line with its start, end, speaker and style, to sort, search and save as CSV.

Questions
How do I show subtitles on a video?
Drop the video and its subtitles together, or the folder that holds them. A file named like the video shows on it at once, and the Subtitles button picks another or turns them off.
Do the styles and effects show?
On the video, lines show as plain text, in italics or bold where they ask for it. Their fonts, colors, places and karaoke effects don't.
What is an SSA file?
The older SubStation Alpha format ASS grew out of. It opens here the same way.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
