About CAF
Apple introduced the Core Audio Format with Mac OS X Tiger in 2005. Audio messages saved from Apple's Messages app are CAF files, and so are many app sounds and the loops of GarageBand and Logic.
A CAF can hold almost any sound codec: PCM, AAC, Apple Lossless, Opus, μ-law or IMA4. Its sizes are 64-bit, so unlike WAV and AIFF it has no 4 GB limit.
Only Safari plays CAF by itself. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox, Filepeek reads it with FFmpeg and decodes the sound inside, and Export saves an MP3 that plays on any phone.

Drop it on this page or press Peek a CAF. It plays right in your browser, on Windows, Android or any computer, with nothing to install.

Open it, choose Export, then Save as MP3. Small, at 128 kbps, suits voice messages, and Best, at 320 kbps, suits music.

Yes. In the export sheet, drag the handles on the waveform strip to the part you want, then save it as MP3 or WAV.

No. The CAF plays inside your browser and never leaves your device.
