About AMR
3GPP, the group behind mobile networks, chose AMR in 1999 as the speech codec of GSM and 3G calls. Phones from Nokia, Samsung and others saved voice notes, call recordings and voice messages as AMR files.
AMR squeezes speech into 4.75 to 12.2 kbps at 8 kHz, so a minute takes under 100 KB. AMR-WB, from 2001, records at 16 kHz for the clearer sound of HD Voice calls.
No browser plays AMR by itself. Filepeek decodes AMR and AMR-WB with FFmpeg inside your browser, and Export saves an MP3 any phone or computer plays. Phones also put AMR in .3gp files, which play here too.

Questions
How do I play an AMR recording?
Drop it on this page or press Peek an AMR. It plays right in your browser, on a computer or a phone, with nothing to install.
Can I turn it into an MP3?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as MP3, which every phone, computer and messaging app takes. Small is plenty for speech.
Can I save just the part I need?
Yes. In the export sheet, drag the handles on the waveform strip to where the part starts and ends, and only that part is saved.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The recording plays inside your browser, so private calls and notes never leave your device.
