About MCPACK

Minecraft's Bedrock Edition, on phones, consoles and Windows, imports packs from .mcpack files: resource packs change its textures and sounds, behavior packs change how mobs and blocks act, and skin packs add skins.

An .mcpack is a ZIP with a manifest.json at its top, which gives the pack's name, description, UUID and version, the oldest Minecraft it runs on and its modules, beside pack_icon.png. Names and descriptions are often keys, translated in texts/en_US.lang.

Filepeek reads the manifest and its translations into a page with the pack's icon, name, description, kind, version, the Minecraft it needs, its authors, its license and the packs it depends on. A skin pack shows each skin drawn flat from its texture.

Questions

How do I see what's in an MCPACK without Minecraft?

Drop it on this page or choose Peek an MCPACK. Its files are listed like a folder, with a page beside them on the pack: its icon, name, version and the Minecraft it needs.

Which Minecraft version does a pack need?

Its manifest names the oldest version it runs on, which its page shows as Needs Minecraft.

Does opening it add it to Minecraft?

No. Filepeek only reads it: nothing is imported, and it never leaves your device.
