About MSG
An MSG file is how Outlook saves one email: a Compound File, Microsoft's file system in a file, with each of the email's properties in a stream of its own and each attachment in a folder beside them. It dates from Outlook 97, and Microsoft documents it as MS-OXMSG.
Dragging an email out of Outlook on Windows makes an MSG, so they turn up in shared folders, legal cases and forwarded emails, where most other mail apps can't open them.
Filepeek shows the email as mail apps do: who sent it to whom and when, then what it says, with no script running and no picture from the web loaded. Its attachments open in their own viewers, and Save as EML turns it into an email any mail app opens.

Questions
How do I open an MSG file without Outlook?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek an MSG. The email opens with its sender, date and attachments, on a Mac or a phone too.
Can I open the attachments?
Yes. Each one opens in its own viewer when you click it, and an attached email opens as an email.
Can I turn it into an EML?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as EML, and Apple Mail, Thunderbird or any other mail app opens the email.
Why are some pictures missing?
They load from the web, which would tell the sender you opened the email. Pictures sent inside the email show.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
