What you'll see
Your ROM opens on a page of its own, with what its header says in plain words and the hashes to check it against No-Intro.
- Its header in plain words • Chips, sizes and region
- CRC32, MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 • As No-Intro lists them
- Copy a hash • Or paste one to compare
- Nothing in it runs • Read, never played
About NES
A .nes file is a cartridge of the NES, or the Famicom, copied into a file, with a 16 byte header in front that emulators read to know the board it came on. Marat Fayzullin made the header for his iNES emulator in the 1990s, and NES 2.0 extended it.
The header gives the mapper, the board's chips that switch banks of the game in and out, the sizes of its PRG ROM, the program, and its CHR ROM, the tiles, the mirroring and whether a battery keeps saves. NES 2.0 adds the submapper, RAM sizes and whether it's for NTSC, PAL or Dendy machines.
Filepeek reads the header in plain words, names the mapper, like MMC1 or MMC3, and draws the CHR banks as sheets of 8 × 8 tiles, which open as pictures. The CRC32, MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 are of the ROM without its header, as No-Intro lists them, so a dump can be checked against its database.

Questions
How do I see what's in a NES ROM?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek a NES. Its page shows the mapper, the PRG and CHR sizes, the mirroring and the battery, with its tiles drawn.
How do I check a NES ROM against No-Intro?
Its page shows the CRC32, MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 of the ROM without its 16 byte header, as No-Intro lists them. Copy one, or paste one to compare.
Can I play it here?
No. Filepeek shows what a ROM holds and never runs it.
Is my ROM uploaded?
No. It opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
