About NUV

NuppelVideo was a Linux program for recording TV from capture cards around 2000, and MythTV, the open source home theater, recorded to its .nuv files in its early years. Old MythTV boxes still hold them.

A NUV holds the picture in RTjpeg or MPEG-4 with MP3 or PCM sound, the way capture cards of the time could keep up.

No browser plays NUV by itself. Filepeek decodes it with FFmpeg inside your browser, and Export saves an MP4 that plays on anything.
