About ODG

An ODG is a ZIP of XML files: each page's shapes, lines, text and pictures in content.xml, the styles beside them. It's part of OpenDocument, an OASIS standard since 2005. OTG is a template, FODG the same drawing in one plain XML file, and SXD the OpenOffice.org 1 format before it.

LibreOffice Draw makes diagrams, flowcharts, posters and floor plans in it, and saves PDFs it opened for editing as ODG. Few apps other than LibreOffice read it.

Filepeek reads the drawing itself and draws each page with its shapes, lines, connectors, text and pictures, sharp at any zoom, its pages in a rail beside them. Search finds any word, and Export saves the pages as a PDF or as pictures.

Questions

How do I open an ODG file without LibreOffice?

Drop it on this page or choose Peek an ODG. It opens at its first page, with every page in a rail beside it.

Can I zoom in?

Yes. Shapes and text are drawn, not pictures of them, so they stay sharp at any zoom.

Can I save it as a PDF?

Yes. Choose Export, then Save as PDF, and every page of the drawing goes on a page of its own. Save as PNG or JPEG saves pages as pictures.

Does it open FODG files?

Yes. A FODG is the same drawing in one XML file, and it opens the same way.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The drawing opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
