Open P7S files in your browser
The signature that travels beside a file instead of around it, like a signed email's smime.p7s. Drop it with its file to see who signed and whether it holds. Nothing leaves your device.
Or drop it anywhere on this page
What you'll see
Your signed file opens as who signed it and when, each check listed, then the file inside.
- Who signed • Checked against the roots Filepeek carries
- When • Its timestamp and the authority behind it
- The file inside opens in its own viewer
- Every check listed • Nothing asked of a CA
About P7S
A P7S holds only a signature, in the same CMS format as a P7M, while the file it signs stays apart and readable as it is. Signed emails carry one as smime.p7s, and signing apps save contract.pdf.p7s beside the PDF.
Inside are the signer's certificate, often its chain, the file's hash and the time the signer's device said it signed, and with CAdES what a qualified signature needs, sometimes with a timestamp.
Drop the signature with the file it signs, and Filepeek finds that file by its name or its hash, checks that it hasn't changed, and checks the signer's certificate and its chain against the roots it carries. On its own, a P7S still shows who signed it and when.

Questions
How do I check a P7S signature?
Drop the .p7s together with the file it signs, or the folder they're in. Filepeek finds the file by its name or its hash and says whether the signature holds, with each check listed.
What is smime.p7s in an email?
The email's signature. The message reads without it, and the P7S says who signed it, with their certificate and its chain.
Why does it say the file it signs isn't here?
A P7S keeps only the hash of the file it signs. Drop the two together, the file named as the signature is without .p7s or under any name, and Filepeek checks it.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
