About P7M
A P7M wraps a file and its digital signature in one envelope, in the format RSA Laboratories published as PKCS #7 and the IETF carried on as CMS. Signing apps and smart cards save contract.pdf.p7m, and Italy's e-invoices often travel through the SdI as a FatturaPA XML signed this way, as invoice.xml.p7m.
Inside are the signed file, the signer's certificate and often its chain, and the time the signer's device said it signed. CAdES, Europe's form of it, adds what a qualified signature needs, and some keep a timestamp too.
Filepeek checks that the file hasn't changed since it was signed, and the signer's certificate and its chain against the roots it carries, Italy's qualified ones among them. Then the file inside opens in its own viewer, a PDF as a PDF, and a FatturaPA invoice is laid out as an invoice: the seller and the buyer, each line, VAT, the total and how to pay.

Questions
How do I open a P7M file?
Drop it on this page or press Peek a P7M. You see who signed it and when, and the file inside opens in its own viewer, with no signing app to install.
Can I read an Italian e-invoice, a fattura elettronica?
Yes. A FatturaPA invoice, signed as .xml.p7m or as a plain .xml, is laid out as an invoice: the seller and the buyer, each line, VAT, the total and how to pay, with its attachments to open or save.
How do I know the signature is valid?
Filepeek lists each check: that the file is unchanged since it was signed, that the signer's certificate was valid at its timestamp's time or else now, and that its chain ends at a root Filepeek carries. A check that fails says why.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
