About PSB

Adobe added the Large Document Format to Photoshop CS in 2003, for pictures past a PSD's limits of 30,000 pixels a side and 2 GB. A PSB can be 300,000 pixels wide and tall, and as big as a disk holds.

Inside, a PSB is a PSD with room for bigger numbers: the same layers, masks, text, smart objects and flattened picture. Few apps besides Photoshop open it, and the files are often too big to send to a converter site.

Filepeek reads a PSB like a PSD: Photoshop's own picture first, then its layers beside it to hide, show alone or save as PNG. Pictures too big for your device's memory are shown at a smaller size.

Questions

How do I open a PSB file without Photoshop?

Drop it on this page or choose Peek a PSB. It opens as Photoshop saved it, with its layers beside it, and nothing to install.

What's the difference between PSD and PSB?

Only the size. A PSB holds pictures past 30,000 pixels a side or 2 GB, which a PSD cannot. Inside, they keep the same layers and picture.

Can I save the picture as PNG or JPEG?

Yes. Choose Export, then Save as PNG or Save as JPEG. A picture too big for your device is saved at the size it shows.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
