About SOG
PlayCanvas, who make the PlayCanvas engine and the SuperSplat editor, made SOG in 2025 to put Gaussian splat captures on web pages, many times smaller than the PLY a capture starts as. SuperSplat and PlayCanvas's splat-transform save it.
A .sog is a ZIP of WebP pictures and a meta.json: each splat is a pixel in every picture, its position in two of them, its size, turn, color and opacity in the others, with colors that change with the angle kept as a palette. The splats are ordered so neighbors sit side by side, which makes the pictures small.
Filepeek reads it in your browser and draws it with Spark, an open renderer of splats, turned the right way up and fitted to the middle of the capture. Turn it, zoom and move through it, put a dark, light or no background behind it, and save the view as PNG.

Questions
How do I open a .sog file?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek a SOG. The capture opens at once in 3D, with nothing to install.
Why is it upside down?
Most captures are saved the way the cameras that made them see, with up pointing down, so Filepeek turns them over. When one comes out the wrong way, choose Turn it over.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The capture opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
