About XLSX
An XLSX is a ZIP of XML files: each sheet's cells, the workbook's shared texts and styles, its charts, pictures and tables. Microsoft brought it with Excel 2007 to replace XLS, as part of the Office Open XML standard. XLSM is the same with macros, XLTX and XLTM are templates.
Each cell keeps its formula and the value Excel last worked out from it, so a workbook shows its numbers without being calculated again. Workbooks also hide things: hidden sheets, rows and columns, comments, the author's name, and macros in an XLSM.
Filepeek reads the workbook itself and draws each sheet as Excel does, with its number formats, colors, borders, merged cells, frozen panes, charts and pictures, its tabs along the bottom. Show formulas shows what's behind each number, Show as a table sorts and filters a sheet, and macros never run.

Questions
How do I open an XLSX file without Excel?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek an XLSX. It opens at the sheet it was saved on, with every other sheet a tab away.
Can I see the formulas?
Yes. Choose Show formulas, and each cell shows its formula instead of its value. Double-click a cell, or tap it on a phone, for a card with its value, its format and its formula.
Does it calculate the formulas again?
No. It shows the values Excel saved in the file, the numbers you'd see when Excel opened it.
Can I save a sheet as CSV?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save sheet as CSV, or Save every sheet as CSV for one file a sheet. Show as a table also saves a sheet as Excel, JSON or Parquet.
Can it open a workbook with a password?
Yes. Type the password when Filepeek asks, and it opens. The password stays on your device, and it's gone once you close the file.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The workbook opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
