About AZW
AZW is the name Amazon gives the Kindle books it sells and sends: a Mobipocket book, often with a Kindle Format 8 copy inside, usually locked with Amazon's DRM to Kindle's devices and apps. It came with the first Kindle in 2007.
Personal documents sent to a Kindle and books sold without DRM are AZW files any reader can open. Newer Kindle apps download books in KFX instead, sometimes still named .azw, which only they can read.
Filepeek lays an AZW without DRM out on pages the size of a paperback, with its pictures, fonts and contents beside them. A book locked with DRM, or a KFX book from Kindle's apps, says so instead of opening.

Questions
How do I open an AZW file?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek an AZW. A book without DRM opens at once on book-sized pages, with its contents beside them.
Why doesn't my AZW open?
Books bought from Amazon are locked with DRM to Kindle's apps and devices, and Filepeek says when a book is. Personal documents and books sold without DRM open.
Can I read it on my phone?
Yes. On a phone the text is reflowed to fit your screen, with no zooming in and out, and Show pages brings back the pages.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The book opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
