Open BRD files in your browser
The circuit boards EAGLE saved, shared on GitHub and maker sites for years. Open one right here, both sides as it's made, with no CAD app. Nothing leaves your device.
Or drop it anywhere on this page
What you'll see
Your board opens as it's made, from the top and from below, and a schematic sheet by sheet in EAGLE's colors.
- Every layer • Hide one or show one alone
- A board's top and, mirrored beside it, its bottom
- Search its text • Part names, values and labels
- Export • PNG and SVG
About BRD
CadSoft released EAGLE in 1988, and its free version made it the circuit board app of makers and open hardware: Arduino, SparkFun and Adafruit shared their designs as EAGLE files. Autodesk bought it in 2016 and retired it in June 2026 in favor of Fusion, which opens its files.
Since EAGLE 6 a board is XML: the packages of its libraries, each part placed on the top or the bottom, the signals with their tracks, vias and copper pours, and the design rules that size the pads and the gaps around them. The schematic lives beside it, in a .sch of the same name.
Filepeek reads it in your browser and draws the board as it's made, from the top and, mirrored beside it, from below: green mask, gold copper where the mask is open, white silkscreen and the holes. Copper pours are worked out around the other signals as EAGLE does for Gerbers. Each layer can be hidden or shown alone, Measure gives distances in millimeters, and Export saves PNG or SVG.

Questions
How do I open a .brd file without EAGLE?
Drop it on this page or press Peek a BRD. The board opens from both sides as it's made, with nothing to install. KiCad and Fusion can import it to edit.
Why won't my old EAGLE board open?
Boards from EAGLE 5 and before are binary, in a format only EAGLE reads. Opening one in EAGLE 6 or later and saving it again gives the XML that opens here.
Why does my .brd open as text, or not at all?
Other apps use .brd too. Early versions of KiCad saved boards as .brd text, which opens here as text, and Cadence Allegro's .brd is a binary file of its own that doesn't open.
Why do the copper pours look a little different?
An EAGLE board doesn't keep its pours filled: EAGLE fills them when you run Ratsnest or make Gerbers. Filepeek works them out around the other signals the same way, without the thermal spokes that join pads to them.
Can I see the schematic too?
Yes. Open the .sch of the same name and its sheets show in the colors EAGLE gives them.
