About CO2

Elden Ring keeps its saves in ER0000.sl2, ten character slots in one file. Seamless Co-op, the mod that lets friends play the whole game together, keeps its own in ER0000.co2, so the game's own save stays untouched.

Both are BND4 containers of twelve entries: the ten character slots, a profile and one more block, each checked with MD5 and, on PC, not encrypted. The profile gives each used slot's name, level and play time, and each slot its class, its attributes and its runes.

Filepeek reads the profile and the slots into a page with every character's name, level, class, play time and the runes they hold and have gathered, and checks each slot's MD5.

Questions

How do I see the characters in an Elden Ring save?

Drop ER0000.sl2 or ER0000.co2 on this page, or choose Peek a CO2. Its page lists every character with its name, level, class, play time and runes.

What's the difference between .sl2 and .co2?

None inside. Seamless Co-op saves to .co2 so the game's own .sl2 stays as it was, and both open the same way.

Does it change my save?

No. Filepeek only reads it, and it never leaves your device.

Does it open Dark Souls saves?

No. Dark Souls III and FromSoftware's other games encrypt their saves with a key of the game, which Filepeek doesn't carry.
