What you'll see

Your part opens in 3D with its edges, lit and framed, with its assembly beside it and what you pick on the other side.

About FCStd

FreeCAD is the free and open source CAD app, built on OpenCascade, and FCStd is the document it saves: parts designed in PartDesign, assemblies, Draft drawings and BIM buildings, with every feature that made them.

An FCStd is a ZIP. Document.xml lists the objects with their properties, and each shape is saved inside it as a BREP, OpenCascade's own exact format. GuiDocument.xml keeps what the 3D view shows: which objects are visible and their colors, down to single faces. FreeCAD also keeps the last save beside a file as .FCStd1.

Filepeek reads the document in your browser and draws what FreeCAD shows: each visible shape through OpenCascade, in its colors and transparency, a PartDesign body as its finished solid, and the parts, groups and layers that hold them as the tree beside it. Inspect gives a part's size, volume and area and what a face is, such as a hole and its diameter, Measure snaps to edges and holes, Section cuts through it, and Export saves it as STL, OBJ or GLB, or the view as PNG.

Questions

How do I open an FCStd file without FreeCAD?

Drop it on this page or choose Peek an FCStd. Each visible shape is meshed in your browser and the model opens in 3D, with nothing to install.

Why don't I see every feature?

Filepeek shows what FreeCAD's 3D view shows when the file opens: the visible objects, with each PartDesign body as its finished solid. Hidden objects, like the inputs of a boolean or a body's sketches, stay hidden.

Can I measure a part?

Yes. Click a part, then a face: Inspect shows a hole's diameter. Measure snaps to edges and to the middle of holes.

Can I turn an FCStd into an STL?

Yes. Choose Export, then Save as STL for 3D printing, or OBJ and GLB for other apps.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The document opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
