View STEP files in your browser
The format CAD apps share parts and assemblies in, from SolidWorks to Fusion and CATIA. Open one right here, every part exact, with no CAD software. Nothing leaves your device.
Or drop it anywhere on this page
What you'll see
Your part opens in 3D with its edges, lit and framed, with its assembly beside it and what you pick on the other side.
- Every part and assembly • How many times each is used
- Inspect • A part's volume and mass, a hole's size
- Measure • Snaps to the middle of holes
- Export • PNG, STL, OBJ, GLB and the parts list
About STEP
STEP is ISO 10303, the standard for exchanging product data, first published in 1994. Every CAD app reads and writes it, so suppliers send parts as STEP, machinists quote from it and makers download screws, motors and boards as STEP files.
A STEP file is text that describes exact shapes rather than triangles: solids of faces on planes, cylinders and curved surfaces, bounded by their edges, with the assembly that places each part, its names, its colors and the unit it was made in. AP203, AP214 and AP242 are the versions most apps save.
Filepeek reads the file in your browser with OpenCascade, the open CAD kernel, and draws each part with its edges, the assembly beside it with how many times each part is used. Inspect gives a part's size, volume and area, its mass when the file names a density, and what the face you click is, such as a hole and its diameter. Measure snaps to the middle of holes, Section cuts through the assembly, and Export saves the parts list, the model as STL, OBJ or GLB, or the view as PNG.

Questions
How do I open a STEP file without CAD software?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek a STEP. Each part is meshed in your browser and the model opens in 3D, with nothing to install.
Can I measure a hole?
Yes. Click a part, then the hole: Inspect shows its diameter and depth. Measure snaps to the middle of holes, so the distance between two of them is two clicks.
Can I get the parts list?
Yes. The assembly beside the model counts how many times each part is used, and Export, then Save the parts list, saves a CSV with each part, its count, material, volume and mass.
Can I turn a STEP into an STL for 3D printing?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as STL, with the parts on show, in millimeters. OBJ and GLB save it for 3D apps.
Which units does it use?
The one the file was saved in, so sizes and lengths show in millimeters, inches or meters, as its CAD app had them.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The model opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
