About JEF
Janome made JEF for its home embroidery machines and its software, after the SEW of its first ones. A JEF names the hoop it was made for, from Janome's own sizes, so the machine knows where it fits.
Its stitches are moves of the needle in tenths of a millimeter, and its colors are numbers in Janome's thread chart, so a design shows in the threads Janome sells.
Filepeek reads it in your browser and draws every stitch in its thread color, sharp at any zoom, each color a layer in the Threads panel to hide or show alone. Show details gives its size, stitches, colors, jumps and trims, and Export saves it as PNG, SVG, or a PES, DST or EXP for other brands' machines.

Questions
Why won't my Janome machine load this design?
A Janome machine only loads a design that fits one of its hoops. Show details gives the design's width and height in millimeters to check against the hoops your machine takes.
What's the difference between JEF and SEW?
SEW is the format of Janome's first embroidery machines and JEF the one that followed it. Both open here, and Export saves either as JEF.
Can I turn a JEF into a PES?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as PES, for Brother's and Baby Lock's machines, with the same stitches and thread colors. DST and EXP are there too.
