About DST
Tajima, the Japanese maker of commercial embroidery machines, made DST for its machines. Nearly every multi-needle machine and embroidery program reads it, so designs for shops and factories travel as DST.
A DST is the stitches and nothing more: a 512-byte header with the design's name, stitch count and size, then three bytes for each needle move, jump or color change. It keeps no thread colors, so the operator sets them on the machine.
Filepeek reads it in your browser and draws every stitch, sharp at any zoom, each color change in a color of its own so the parts stand apart, and each a layer in the Threads panel to hide or show alone. Show details gives its size, stitches, jumps and trims, and Export saves it as PNG, SVG, or a PES, JEF or EXP.

Questions
Why is my DST in the wrong colors?
A DST keeps no thread colors, only the stops where the machine changes thread. Filepeek shows each part in a color of its own so they stand apart, and the real threads are the ones set on the machine.
How long will it take to sew?
That comes down to its stitch count, which Show details gives with its size, jumps and trims, and your machine's speed: at 800 stitches a minute, 8,000 stitches take about ten minutes plus the thread changes.
Can I turn a DST into a PES for my Brother machine?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as PES, with the same stitches and the colors on show, which the machine lets you change. JEF and EXP are there too.
