LAS squeezed by LASzip to a fraction of its size, as most lidar is shared. Open a LAZ right here in 3D, with no unzipping. Nothing leaves your device.
Or drop it anywhere on this page
What you'll see
Your scan opens in 3D, in its own colors or by class, with its classes or scans beside it and what you pick on the other side.
- Turn, zoom and move through it • Double click to center on a point
- Every class or scan in a list • Hide one or see it alone
- Color • As scanned, by height, by class or by intensity
- Export • The view as PNG and the points as GLB
About LAZ
Martin Isenburg made LASzip in 2011 to compress lidar without losing a single point, and LAZ became how lidar is shared: mapping agencies, survey firms and drone apps hand out their scans as LAZ, often a tenth of the size of the LAS. COPC, the cloud optimized point cloud, is a LAZ too.
A LAZ keeps the header and the records of a LAS, and packs its points by arithmetic coding in chunks, each unpacked on its own, with a table at the end that says where each chunk starts and how many points it holds.
Filepeek unpacks it in your browser a chunk at a time with laz-perf, so the file is never read whole, and draws it like a LAS: in its own colors, by class or by height. Pick Height, Class or Intensity to color it another way, hide a class or see it alone, and Export saves the points as GLB, or the view as PNG.

Questions
How do I open a LAZ file?
Drop it on this page or press Peek a LAZ. It's unpacked in your browser and opens in 3D, with no LAStools to install.
Does it open COPC files?
Yes. A .copc.laz is a LAZ, and it opens like any other, the whole cloud at once.
Can I color it by class or by height?
Yes. Pick Class, Height or Intensity, or As scanned when the cloud has its own colors.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
