About MMF

Yamaha made SMAF for the sound chips in mobile phones, and Samsung and other makers used it for ringtones and sounds in the 2000s. Ringtone sites sold them as .mmf files.

An MMF can hold notes for the phone's synthesizer, recorded sound in ADPCM, or both.

Filepeek decodes the recorded sound with FFmpeg inside your browser and plays it with its waveform. A ringtone made only of synthesizer notes has no recording to play, and Filepeek says so.

Questions

How do I play an MMF ringtone?

Drop it on this page or press Peek an MMF. Its recorded sound plays right away.

Why doesn't my MMF play?

Some ringtones hold only notes for the phone's synthesizer chip, with no recorded sound. Those need the phone to play.

Can I turn it into an MP3?

Yes. Choose Export, then Save as MP3.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. The recording opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
