About MP2
MP2, or MPEG-1 Audio Layer II, became a standard in 1993 along with MP3. It's simpler than MP3, and radio and TV took it up: DAB radio, digital TV and Video CDs all carry MP2 sound.
An MP2 usually runs at 128 to 384 kbps, at 44.1 or 48 kHz. Broadcast studios and radio archives keep recordings as MP2, and .mpa is another name for MPEG audio files.
No browser plays MP2 by itself. Filepeek decodes it with FFmpeg inside your browser, and Export saves an MP3 that plays everywhere.

Questions
Is MP2 the same as MP3?
No. Both are MPEG audio, but MP2 is the simpler Layer II that radio and TV use, and many players skip it. Filepeek plays both, and Export turns an MP2 into an MP3.
What are .mpa files?
They hold MPEG audio, most often MP2 and sometimes MP3. Filepeek plays them like any MP2.
Can I convert MP2 to MP3?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as MP3. Drag the handles on the waveform strip to save only a part of a long recording.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The MP2 plays inside your browser and never leaves your device.
