About W3X
Warcraft III, Blizzard's strategy game of 2002, plays its maps from .w3m files, and The Frozen Throne and Reforged from .w3x. Its World Editor made it the home of custom games, Defense of the Ancients among them, and they are maps like any other.
A map is an MPQ, Blizzard's archive, behind a 512 byte header that names it. Its files are found by hashes of their names: war3map.w3i holds the map's name, author, players and forces, war3map.w3e its terrain, the preview and minimap are pictures, and war3map.j or war3map.lua is its script.
Filepeek reads the MPQ with a reader of its own, zlib, bzip2 and PKWARE packing included, into a page with the map's name, author, size, tileset, players and forces, its preview and minimap, and its terrain drawn as a shaded relief. The script opens as text and never runs, and every file opens on its own.

Questions
How do I see a Warcraft III map without the game?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek a W3X. Its page shows the map's preview, minimap, terrain, players and forces, and its files are listed like a folder.
Can I read a map's script?
Yes. war3map.j, in JASS, or war3map.lua, in Lua for Reforged, opens in the text viewer. Nothing in it runs.
Does it open protected maps?
Often. A protected map hides its file names, so Filepeek finds the ones every map has by their hashes and counts the rest.
Is my map uploaded?
No. It opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
