About XPT
SAS made the transport format, XPORT, to move datasets between computers of every kind. Its version 5 is public, so the FDA and other regulators take clinical trial data in it, laid out by CDISC's SDTM and ADaM standards. The CDC's NHANES survey publishes its data as XPT too.
Version 5 keeps names to 8 characters, labels to 40 and text to 200, and stores numbers in IBM's old floating point. Version 8 lifts those limits.
Filepeek reads it with ReadStat, compiled to WebAssembly. Each column's label shows under its name, and dates and times show as dates and times.

Questions
How do I open an XPT file without SAS?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek an XPT. Its rows open as a table, each column with its label, with nothing to install.
Can it open NHANES and CDISC files?
Yes. NHANES data files and SDTM or ADaM datasets are XPT files, which open as tables with each column's label under its name.
Can I turn an XPT file into CSV or Excel?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as CSV, Excel, JSON, JSON Lines or Parquet, with every row or only the rows you sorted and filtered.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The table opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
