About 7Z
Igor Pavlov made the 7z format in 1999 for 7-Zip, his free archiver. It compresses with LZMA or LZMA2 and usually packs files solid, as one stream, so a 7z is often smaller than a ZIP of the same files.
A 7z can be locked with AES-256 and can hide its file names too, so nothing about what's inside shows without the password. Big archives are often split into parts named .7z.001, .7z.002 and so on.
No browser opens a 7z by itself. Filepeek reads it with 7-Zip itself, compiled to WebAssembly, and unpacks only the file you pick, so even an archive of several gigabytes opens at once. Save as ZIP turns it into a ZIP that any phone or computer opens.

Questions
How do I open a 7z file without 7-Zip?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek a 7Z. Its files are listed like a folder, and the one you pick opens right away, with nothing to install.
Can it open a 7z with a password?
Yes. Type the password when Filepeek asks, even for a 7z that hides its file names. It's only kept in memory for that archive and never stored.
How do I open a 7z split into parts?
Pick or drop all the parts together, from .7z.001 on. Filepeek opens them as one archive.
Can I turn a 7z into a ZIP?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as ZIP, and the ZIP opens on any phone or computer without an app. Photos, videos and other files that are compressed already go in as they are, and the rest is compressed.
Is my archive uploaded?
No. 7-Zip runs inside your browser, so the archive never leaves your device.
