About FBX
Kaydara made FBX in 1996 for Filmbox, a motion capture app, and Autodesk bought it in 2006. It became how characters, rigs and animation travel between Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, Unity and Unreal, and how asset stores sell them.
An FBX holds a scene of models: meshes with their materials and textures, bones that bend a skin, blend shapes for faces, cameras, lights and takes of animation, mostly in a binary form Autodesk doesn't publish, sometimes as text. Its textures are inside it or in files beside it.
Filepeek reads the file in your browser with ufbx, an open reader of the format, and shows the model in its materials with every object listed, its takes on a player, Inspect, Measure and Section. Export saves it as GLB, which keeps its animations, as USDZ, STL or OBJ, or the view as PNG.

Questions
How do I open an FBX file without a 3D app?
Drop it on this page or choose Peek an FBX. Pick its textures with it, or drop its folder, and it opens in 3D with nothing to install.
Can I play its animation?
Yes. Each take plays on a player along the bottom, with a timeline to scrub, its speed and a menu of the other takes.
Why are some surfaces plain?
Their textures are in files beside the FBX that weren't opened with it. Open the FBX with its folder, or its ZIP, and they show.
Can I turn an FBX into a GLB?
Yes. Choose Export, then Save as GLB, and its meshes, materials, textures, skins and animations go into one GLB that web pages, Blender and game engines open. USDZ, STL and OBJ save the model as it shows.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The model opens inside your browser and never leaves your device.
