About M4R

Apple brought custom ringtones to the iPhone in 2007, sold through iTunes and later made in GarageBand. A ringtone is an .m4r file, at most 40 seconds long.

An M4R is an MPEG-4 audio file, the same as an M4A, with AAC sound inside. Only its name tells an iPhone it's a ringtone.

Filepeek plays it like any song, with its waveform, its details and its cover when it has one, and Export saves an MP3 that Android phones take as a ringtone.
