About Procreate

Savage Interactive, in Tasmania, released Procreate for the iPad in 2011, and it became the painting app of the Apple Pencil. A .procreate file is a ZIP that holds the layers as compressed tiles, a description of them in an Apple archive, a picture of the artwork and, when recording was on, its time-lapse video.

Procreate runs only on the iPad and iPhone, so a .procreate file sent to someone on Windows, Android or a Mac usually needs to be exported as a PSD or PNG first.

Filepeek reads the file itself: the artwork as Procreate saved it, then every layer beside it, masks included, to hide, show alone or save as PNG. Time-lapse plays the recording, and the artwork saves as PNG or JPEG.
